Low Back Pain DVD

It is estimated that nearly 50% of all working Americans will suffer from lower back pain at some point in their lives. Lower back pain can range from an uncomfortable inconvenience to a debilitating condition that keeps people from enjoying an active lifestyle.

This video identifies the most common types of back pain, ways to treat it and when to seek medical help. Douglas B. Moreland, MD, FACS, of the Buffalo Neurosurgery Group, narrates the video and provides insight as to the causes of lower back pain. In the video, he notes that through the normal course of healing, 70% of patients will feel better in two weeks and 92% will feel better in four to six weeks.

Kristie Coleman, a physical therapist with Catholic Health, describes a variety of simple exercises, which are demonstrated in the video. These exercises can aid in the recovery from lower back pain and help prevent its recurrence.

“Physical therapy can significantly enhance the healing process and the exercises described in the video will help improve muscle strength and posture to help prevent the recurrence of lower back pain,” Coleman said.

“CIPA Physicians are committed to helping educate their patients on how to become more involved in their care,” said Michael Edbauer, DO, vice president, medical affairs for CIPA. “By providing educational material, such as the Caring for Your Low Back Pain video, we believe we can empower our patients to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle and quicker recovery from illness or injury.”
